I use Groupons and I’m not the least bit ashamed. Restaurant Groupons have been a great way for me to explore the food scene of Los Angeles without shelling out a fortune. If you watch their list, you can sometimes find some real foodie gems amongst the usual suspects. Prior to its transformation to The Mud Hen Tavern, my first visit to Susan Feniger’s Street was as the result of a Groupon. Anything that brings Kaya Toast into your life is never bad.
I’ve gone though this week’s Groupons for the Los Angeles area and pulled out a few that I thought would be of particular interest to LA foodies. Remember that most Groupons are only available for a short time. So, if you are interested, make sure you grab them before they are gone.
$15 for $31.50 from Farm Fresh To You organic produce delivery
I’ve been a Farm Fresh To You customer for a while now. My introduction to them came from Groupon they ran last year. They deliver organic fruit and vegetable boxes to your door. You can order various sizes depending on your needs. You can also have all fruit or all vegetable boxes if the mixed boxes aren’t to your liking. Essentially, this Groupon gives you one regular sized box delivery for just over half off. Which makes it a good way to try out the service is you are curious but don’t want to commit just yet.
$8 for $16 from Beard Papa’s Cream Puffs
I came to know Beard Papa’s from their Oxford Street location when I lived in London. They dish up super light and delicious cream puffs with a variety of filling flavors. I tend to keep it simple and have the vanilla cream puffs. So good! An Asia based chain, they have been popping up around LA as of late. The Beard Papa’s that this Groupon is for is located as part of the Hollywood and Highland complex.
$16 for sausages and beer for two at Dog House hot dogs
Last year’s LA Street Food Fest allowed me to sample the food from a bunch of LA food trucks. By far, the best dish I had at the event was Dog Haus’s pastrami hot dog. Seriously, it was incredible! This LA foodie Groupon is a pretty great deal. You get two sausages and two beers for $16. Make it a date or just treat yourself to a double feature meal
